The new jazz was first played at jazz restaurants like Gyllene Cirkeln and locales such as the Museum of Modern Art, and the saxophonist Bernt Rosengren tells of the changing situation for jazz in the 60s in an in-depth interview included in the page booklet that follows the CD.. On “Svensk Jazzhistoria vol. 9” one can hear the entire Swedish jazz elite, several new talents of the time. Reply

During the late 60s, Bengt Nordström opened up a new world of sound and musical thinking that was ahead of his time. Seen in a European perspective, he was truly one of the pioneers. Throughout his life, Frippe's musicianship was an example of disobedience and inattention to imperatives. Reply

Having visited Anna and her family in the north of Sweden recently to make an interview with her – and a solo sax shoot - for a film project on the late Bengt “Frippe” Nordström, it hit me already then. Her connection to something deeper is for real. As real as the split axe outside of their house. Reply
